How to Conceal Vitiligo Patches using Make-up?

How to conceal vitiligo patches

Vitiligo is the skin condition characterized by white patches appearing on the skin as a result of losing pigmentation. Vitiligo patches initially appear as blotches that eventually lead to the formation of white patches on body. Often the patches appear on areas of skin that are exposed to direct sunlight. Many people with this condition take pride on their patches. But if you want to conceal it and are wondering how to do it, just follow the steps listed below.

You can easily cover vitiligo patches on your skin by using some great make-up products, specifically made for Vitiligo. Microskin is one such brand that is designed to help you flaunt your skin with confidence.

  1. Choose the right Foundation

If you want to cover vitiligo patches, then regular make-up products won’t help you. There are specific make-up products designed to cover depigmentation caused by vitiligo. These kind of make-up products are referred to as Camouflage or cover make-up.

When you choose a foundation make sure you chose the shade that is closest to your actual skin tone or a shade darker. There are diverse tones of foundation in Microskin which are specifically made for skin affected with Vitiligo.  Even the ingredients used in the foundation are hypoallergenic and are unlikely to cause any reaction on your skin. Microskin foundation comes in two sizes; 30 Ml and 100 Ml.

  1. Cleanse your skin

Once you have chosen your make-up product, the next step is to prepare your skin for applying make-up. Cleanse your skin with a mild cleanser that matches your skin. Pat dry when you are done. First step of preparing your skin for Make-up is completed.

  1. Moisturise

Once you have cleansed your skin, next important step is to moisturise your skin thoroughly. Since you need to coat your skin with several thin layers of makeup, it is recommended to moisturise your skin well. But certain camouflage might not require moisturizer to be applied on to the skin. Hence go through the label and do it accordingly.

  1. Apply concealer and foundation

Now that your skin is ready for makeup, start concealing the patches. Remember that you usually apply camouflage products in several thin coats to make the make-up look as natural as possible. So, start from the depigmented areas of the skin and spread outwards as you apply each coat. Blend each coat well using your fingers or a make-up brush or sponge. Microskin offers you a delicate sponge specifically made to even out your make-up.

After concealing the patches using the concealer that you have picked, top it up with foundation and blend really well, till it is evenly toned.

  1. Top it up with powder

Since you have applied initial layers, it is time to seal your makeup with the touch of powder. This will ensure that the white patches stay hidden for a longer period of time. Dust the translucent powder all over your skin and it will reduce unnecessary shine by absorbing excess. Dusting powder will aid in making sure that the make-up is evened out.

  1. A little fixing spray for your rescue

Once you are done with foundation, concealer and powder, you could do your eyes and lips if required. If you want to skip that part, it is completely fine.

Fixing spray seals your make-up in place and helps in not revealing your vitiligo patches after some time. Since you apply many layers of make-up, using a fixing spray would ensure that the make-up doesn’t smudge.
