Michael Jackson, a man who steered his way into the hearts of people with sheer talent and a man to whose rhythm the whole world tapped their feet. He was one of the most celebrated artists of the contemporary world and the man whose name lingered in the mouths of many throughout his life.
Michael Jackson was born a Black-American and was grown under the presence of limelight since the age of 6. Within a short period of time, the world went crazy over his voice and moves.
It was during the early 1980’s that people started a discerning change in his skin colour. It was gradually turning white, leading to several speculations that he underwent the bleaching treatment to look fairer. Until 1993, most of the world was ignorant of the fact that he suffered Vitiligo.
In 1993, he appeared on the famous Oprah Winfrey Show and he was questioned about his skin colour. It was only when he revealed to the whole world that he suffered Vitiligo. He was heartbroken by the fact that media framed him for something he didn’t do.
He first noticed blotches on his skin during the time of “Thriller” in 1982, when he was only 24 years old. Hard-core Michael Jackson lovers could never forget his iconic single glove embellished with white sequins, that he used to wear in his hand. He started using gloves as the pigmentation in his hands started to change.
Initially, when his skin colour changed, most people thought he bleached his skin as he didn’t like being black. Many started bashing him for disrespecting his race. This was majorly because of people not knowing the fact that he endured Vitiligo. To cope with this, it is known that Michael used make-up to try and even out the patches. In his interview with Oprah, Michael said, “We’re trying to control it, and using camouflage make-up evens it out because it makes blotches on the skin.
MJ’s skin condition didn’t stop him from performing and capturing hearts. Even after being diagnosed with the condition, he gave some amazing hits like Bad, Dangerous, History and Invincible. It was his talent that acquired him a supreme position in the hearts of people.
It is almost ten years since he has left this universe, but yet he remains in people and he lives through people. According to many people, he is unambiguously the prolific entertainer of all time as well.
‘For he was a man with the heart of gold, and voice of sacred; neither shall he be forgotten nor his talent.’
